Award Categories

Spirit of Philanthropy
Presented to an individual or organization that demonstrates exemplary leadership in philanthropy in the Wine Country through personal giving and the fostering, mentoring, and encouragement of others to give for the benefit of all.  Recipients are nominated by the AFP Wine Country Chapter Board of Directors.

Nominations for the following awards are received from the Community:

Outstanding Individual or Family Philanthropist
Presented to an individual or family that has generously donated from personal resources to a variety of philanthropic causes.

Outstanding Business Partner
Presented to a business or corporation demonstrating outstanding commitment through financial support and/or encouragement and motivation of others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvements.

Outstanding  Civic Organization Partner
Presented to a grant making foundation or civic organization demonstrating outstanding commitment through financial support and encouragement and motivation of others to take leadership roles in philanthropic and community involvement.

Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy
Presented to an individual or group of individuals aged 25 or younger demonstrating an outstanding commitment to the community through direct financial support, development of charitable programs, and leadership in philanthropy.

Selection Process
A panel composed of AFP Members, AFP Board Members and Community Leaders will review the nominations. If necessary, additional information may be requested by the committee before it makes final decisions.

Award Notification
If your nominee is selected, portions of your written application may be read to the audience at the National Philanthropy Day 2011 awards luncheon, published in the event program and in other communication publications.

Award Presentation
Award recipients must attend and will be publicy recognized at the AFP-WCC National Philanthropy Day Awards Celebration on November 8, 2011.  Recipients will receive the award onstage.
