National Philanthropy Day (NPD) is an international day of recognition that celebrates the people and organizations that enrich our community and world through philanthropy. 2011 marks the 26th anniversary of NPD.
National Philanthropy Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of giving and all that it has made possible. Through NPD, participants are able to show appreciation for all that has been accomplished in the name of giving, as well as show that there is still more to do. It is a chance for us to come together as a community to discover and acknowledge our combined contributions to preserving the quality of life in this most beautiful part of the world.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), an individual member association, advances philanthropy through advocacy, research, education, and certification programs. AFP members and affiliates enable people and organizations to better serve diverse communities and society as a whole. AFP represents 30,000 members in 223 chapters throughout the world.
The AFP Wine Country Chapter is proud to host a special luncheon event on Tuesday, November 8th at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts to honor local individuals and organizations for their “Spirit of Philanthropy”. In addition to those nominated and selected for special NPD awards, nonprofits who attend this celebration event have the opportunity to honor their own unsung heroes for their “Spirit of Philanthropy” as special Honorees recognized at the event.
The money raised through the luncheon supports the Wine Country Chapter’s educational and mentoring programs; provides outreach to other nonprofits; allows scholarships to those in need; and encourages, uplifts, and guides us to expand the Spirit of Philanthropy.
